College Counseling

Grounded in my experience working for Bowdoin College Admissions and my current graduate studies at UC Irvine in Independent Educational Consulting, I guide students through the multi-year process of applying to college. In support students through a major life challenge, I view this process as not only about finding a right fit school, but also about learning how to face obstacles in life, focus on progress not perfection, ask for help, and turn over the outcome. These life lessons can serve students in both their personal and academic lives.
College Counseling can include any of the core segments of the process:
-
Creating College lists, focusing on finding "good fit" schools, rather than brand name ones.
-
Editing College Essays, starting from the brainstorming process through final revisions for submission. Students working with me write personal, thoughtful and original submissions. Please note all essays will be written directly by the student.
-
Financial Aid, going beyond the FAFSA to navigating college aid offers, appealing for more college aid, and applying for additional scholarships.
-
Application management across the Common App, UC application, Coalition App, and more. Keeping students on deadlines and building their personal responsibility to plan for their future.
